Brother HL-1440
The Brother printer HL 1440 is a B/W laser jet printer with many desirable functions. The printer is a not the normal desktop printer weighing in at 20.3lbs. It is rather large at 14.2 x 16.9 x 9.3 inches and is best used for larger print jobs. It does perform rather well in comparison to similar printers that are the same size with the same basic features. This HL 1440 printer would be a great addition to any small office that has moderate printing needs, say 15,000 pages per month. Brother has come through in the printer genre with flying colors.
The HL 1440 can print in black at a resolution of 1200x600 dpi. Dpi means Dots Per Inch; this refers to the quality of imagery or words that appear on the page. The variance on ppm (pages per minute) between a high quality page and normal doesn’t vary for this HL 1440 printer. This model operates at 15ppm for black print. This HL 1440 printer has a standard 1 tray input with a single sheet bypass. The HL 1440 printer can hold 250 pages for print and is able to use many forms of printing stock. Some media input types Paper (plain, letterhead, pre-punched, bond, color, rough, preprinted, recycled), laser transparencies, labels, envelopes, and cardstock.
The HL 1440 printer is not mainly designed for network printing, which means that this printer is not capable of being used on cat5 network. It works best with a parallel or a USB port for individual printing, that is its’ main function. It can be used for wireless networks, however additional equipment will be necessary. For a personal printer, this price is relatively cheap for the quality, however it is important to know that if any printer is used out of its scope or design, it will not be as effective as one would expect. So just remember that each printer has its function and to use it within that function to help ensure the quality you have paid for. The HL 1440 will not let any small sized office or personal workspace down by any means.
