Flexographic PrinterFlexographic printers are used mostly to create packaging materials. A flexographic printer is generally used to print on corrugated material and containers, sacks, bags, and any other disposable product that has printing. The process is about more than just throwing something into a new or used flexographic printer and seeing what happens. Here is a little bit about the printer flexographic process.Process The flexographic printer is actually the part of a process. To begin with, before the material even reaches the flexographic printer, it is put onto a press from a large industrial roll. From there, it is fed through the printer. The best flexographic printers then start their work. The material is actually pulled through various parts of the printers where each separate color is printed on it. There are actually only 4 shades of ink that are used to create every color you see on your favorite packaging. The Colors As was mentioned, pcmd flexographic printers and most other types work on 4 colors. Strangely enough, the colors are a little more exotic than you may initially think. The colors used are generally magenta, yellow, black, and cyan. To create other shades, the colors are laid over one another to create new shades. For instance, green might be achieved by a flexographic printer by laying the yellow over the cyan, which is a shade of blue. It is a complex method, but it works well for corrugated material printing. The Ink Flexographic printers use a special ink. The ink is not unlike that used by gravure printing. The similarities are that they dry quickly and have a very low viscosity. The reason is that they are supposed to actually sit on, not be absorbed into, the surface of the product. Then, it dries to create the image. The drying of the flexographic printer ink is sped up by the removal of solvents in the ink. As you can see, flexographic printers have are fairly complex and intricate in their usage. However, without them, the world of disposable cups, boxes, and even grocery bags would be very different.
